This course creates a relaxed and social space where participants can enjoy painting together, share ideas, and have a good laugh along the way. It's designed for both beginners and those with some experience, with a strong focus on developing your own technique and personal style at a pace that suits you.

You'll start with the basics of watercolour painting, including how to control the flow of paint and water on the paper. The course explores colour mixing using the colour wheel, along with an introduction to tonal values to help you build contrast and depth in your work.

Understanding light and shadow is a key part of the course, especially in watercolour where subtle washes can make a big impact. You'll also learn about perspective, composition, and how to plan a painting from sketch to final piece. Observation skills are developed through practical exercises that train your eye and hand to work together effectively.

You'll get tips on choosing the right materials, including brushes, paper types, and palettes suited to watercolour work. Neil will demonstrate various watercolour techniques - such as wet-on-wet, dry brushing, and layering - and will be available throughout the course for individual guidance and support.
